      <image:title>Home - Who I Am.</image:title>
<image:caption>I am Dr. Marlette Jackson, a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) scholar, educator, and change maker. Motivated by my experiences as a woman of color and a former first-generation/low-income college student, I strive for equity with a lens toward innovation, accessibility, and employee voice.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - What I Do.</image:title>
<image:caption>I am dedicated to removing barriers and providing equitable opportunity through systemic change. This goal hinges on my core belief that diversity efforts should not be siloed, but ingrained in the very fabric of an institution. In my work, I combine empirical research with a human-centered framework to drive meaningful and sustainable JEDI efforts.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work Portfolio - Inclusive Conversations Guidebook - STARTING THE CONVERSATION</image:title>
<image:caption>To begin, we discuss how facilitators can set the tone for inclusive conversations through self-reflection and evaluation of their own biases, as well as providing participants with pre-work assignments. We walk through establishing the rules of engagement, the importance of vulnerability, and creating shared values. Critical at the start of the conversation is creating a sense of psychological safety, and we walk facilitators through how to do just that.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work Portfolio - Inclusive Conversations Guidebook - ASSESSING THE SITUATION</image:title>
<image:caption>In this section of the guidebook, the facilitator dives deeper into the participant’s perspective of the situation and allows participants to clarify their motivations, articulate their rationale, and provide insight into how the event impacted them. We encourage the use of ‘I’ statements, active processing, and building empathy.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work Portfolio - Inclusive Conversations Guidebook - STRATEGIZING NEXT STEPS</image:title>
<image:caption>In this section of the guidebook, we identify next steps and establish accountability. Key here is devising an actionable plan for accountability and tangible steps to maintain transparency.</image:caption>

<image:caption>To begin, I share my own positionality as an Ally of the LGBTQ+ community and acknowledge the identities I bring to the training, as well as the privileges I am afforded. I then share stories of Trans patients who have felt marginalized and discriminated against in the healthcare system to provide participants with the ‘why’ of this training.</image:caption>
